YOUR DONATIONS WILL HELP The Food Bank of Central & Eastern North Carolina works through a network of 890 partner agencies in 34 counties in which there are more than 400,000 people at risk of hunger. Last year, the Food Bank distributed over 32 million pounds of food from warehouses in Durham, Greenville, Raleigh, the Sandhills and Wilmington. The organization serves about 75,000 people at risk of hunger just in Wake County. Urban Ministries of Durham's Community Kitchen is in its 29th year of serving nutritious meals to the hungry in Durham. In FY 2006-2007, the organization served more than 180,000 meals to over 4,500 different individuals. Meals are served at no charge three times a day every single day of the year. The Community Kitchen relies on the assistance of thousands of individual volunteers and groups. Thanks to food donations and volunteer support, it only costs the organization about $1.00 to prepare and serve each meal. The Inter-Faith Council for Social Service Now in its 44th year—through its Community House, HomeStart, and Community Services programs—offered more than 89,000 meals in FY 2006-2007; provided more than 9,200 bags of food to individuals and families without enough to eat; and gave 835 people a place to sleep Home | About RSVVP | How You Can Help | Participating Restaurants | Beneficiaries | Sponsors | Contact |
